SO HAPPY With This-- but READ THIS FIRST!!

I feel like a lot of the negative reviews didn't do their research before choosing a projector, and didn't bother to actually read any instructions... I spent hours comparing and contrasting projectors and finally settled on this one because of the built in apps. You *can not* airplay copyrighted content from your phone onto ANY projector (ie. Netflix/Hulu). With other, cheaper projectors, people plug in an EXTRA streaming device in order to utilize these apps. So they had to buy a projector PLUS a fire stick or roku or had to get a cable for their phone... all a lot of hubbub I didn't want to deal with. This projector has the apps built into it, so they all run from the projector alone.

A lot of people said it didn't work with iPhone and I feel like this is because they were trying to airplay content instead of using the apps on the projector itself. I actually was able to airplay from the iphone MTV app (before I found out that the projector had one to download) and the video quality was delayed a lot. So just use the built in apps. They're there for a reason.

However, using a mobile device is still required in terms of navigating through your apps. The remote control works for the projector's menu, but some apps like Hulu require you to use your phone as the remote control through the Nebula app. It basically turns your phone into a trackpad and a mouse. Easy to get the hang of. There's also a keyboard that pops up which makes it easy to search titles or input login info through your phone so you don't have to select one letter at a time. The app works fine on my iPhone 13 without any lag or connectivity issues.

**** Now here's where you really need to pay attention:**** the app comes with Netflix, YouTube, and Amazon Prime pre-loaded. Out of the box, you won't find Hulu US, Disney or HBO in the app store. Look on your main menu to see if there's an Upgrade button. If there is, go through those steps which will update the software and unlock those apps in the app store for you. If there isn't (or this doesn't work) send an email to their support asking to unlock the apps and they'll send you the instructions and a password to do so within 24 hours (seriously, they're really responsive even on weekends). Apparently they are still testing the projector's compatibility with these apps which is why it doesn't come default, but the updating process is simple (10 min) and all apps have run smoothly for me. I probably use Hulu the most out of all.

The battery life has been pretty accurate for me-- 4 hours of watching straight before I get a notice that I'm low battery and need to charge. I've gotten down to 2%, then plugged it in and kept watching and that worked as well, so it charges faster than it burns battery which is nice.

I also LOVE that there's an option to warp the projection image, which means if you have this projecting at an angle, you can adjust the picture so that it looks like it's being projected straight on and it's not stretched. We have it resting on our bed's headboard but the picture looks like it's being projected straight across the room.

As it runs, there's a pretty subtle fan sound but that usually gets drowned out by the video's audio. It can get pretty loud (though we only watch it inside, not sure how it sounds outside).

So overall, I think this is the BEST choice in projector if you don't want to deal with extra plugs, streaming devices, and you're willing to deal with the short update process even if that means emailing them. I've seriously enjoyed using it as a bedroom TV, as we had no place to put a physical TV but we had a big blank wall that works perfectly as a "screen" for this.

Amazing!

Netflix videos are not supee clear, but youtube and other applications can stream beautiful videos.

So happy with this

Got this projector this weekend, and I have to say I am beyond happy. My main point of this purchase is to watch music videos and do power hours from your tube when partying with friends. Is it the best projector out there. Nah. But when you look at portability, Android OS, and price. I love it. Bluetooth set up to other speakers is nice and simple. Great product.

Nebula Capsule vs. Xgimi Mogo Pro – why I chose the Nebula

I’m writing this tome of a review, because I needed it when I was looking for a portable projector. Hope it can help anyone else in a similar situation.

I’ll preface that I was looking for something compact and highly useable for video viewing. I liked the idea of being able to take a projector wherever (camping, road trips, vacation, to a cafe, etc.) and wanted something I would actually reach for regularly. I already own a nice Optoma HD movie projector for home use, but it is large and has a classic bulb design (the image quality is so beautiful though). I used to be a proper film projectionist, so movie quality matters to me.

Things I wanted: something in the smallest form factor/portable, most budget friendly, most user friendly projector, and a solid all-in-one. Other details that may be relevant: I’m a Mac/iOS user, but have a couple Google products around the house, as well as a Roku stick. I was willing to go up in price point if the Mogo Pro was so user friendly that I’d pick it over my Optoma for more everyday use (the Optoma uses a standard bulb and gets fairly warm, which makes it unpleasant to use in summer months).

I decided to keep the Nebula Capsule. Here’s why:

The Xgimi Mogo Pro was great. I bought it because of its native 1080p resolution. It’s the smallest form factor out there with true HD resolution. A few things make this projector less useable for my situation.
- Netflix compatibility is still non-existent (there are workarounds that run the gamut of coding java on a PC to sideloading apk files that aren’t fully integrated into the AndroidTV system). I use Netflix often, so this was the first hurdle. **Update: There appears to be a way to use Netflix on the Mogo Pro! Check the video that was posted by XGIMI-Direct in the “Customer questions & answers” Amazon section
- The projector does not fully function without the remote. You can cast things to the projector (which works well, by the way), but you can’t use your phone to type in specific text like you can with the Nebula Mobile App. If you’ve ever typed something with a remote, you know how frustrating that can be.
- The charger is an AC adapter! Ugh. Not USB-C. Not even micro USB. Feasibly using this on a camping trip — nonexistent. The convenience of being able to charge this in a regular car, or to quickly unplug another cable in my room to charge the projector — not possible with the Mogo Pro (I always have a micro USB close by, but I can’t fathom keeping an obscure AC adapter using up plug space all the time).
- The fan exhaust is in the back and due to the shape of the projector, I’m worried about overheating/damaging the projector when projecting on the ceiling. The Nebula Capsule also has a fan exhaust on the back, but due to the shape of the capsule, you still get air release.
- The sound on the Mogo Pro is not optimized for video. Music can overpower dialogue quite easily. I think this is because the bass is stronger on the Mogo Pro. Neither projector sounds amazing, but I think the Mogo Pro sounds slightly better when listening to music. I did not spend this much money for a mediocre bluetooth speaker. Like that is not the point here. There is no way to adjust EQ on the native machine.
- Battery life is worse than the Nebula, and power saving mode on the Mogo Pro has strange colors (very green), which you are forced to use once the projector goes under 20% battery. So really, you have 80% of video watching time on the Mogo Pro. The projector is not just “dimmer” as you might expect in power save mode, and you can’t toggle it off once the battery is less than 20%.

The Nebula Capsule is also great.
- The Capsule is the smallest form factor projector with keystone correction, decent ANSI lumens, battery, internal speaker, and at least 480p I could find. Probably half the volume size of the Mogo Pro overall.
- You don’t get AndroidTV, but the Capsule is still very useable. You can download apps from the Google Play store by contacting customer service to get access (a one time thing). The UI is a little clunkier, but it does every job I need it to without needing my Roku. (Hello, portability!)
- There’s a mobile app that replaces the remote entirely (I don’t have to take the physical remote when we go camping).
- Can charge the device from a powerbank while using the device with micro USB.
- Vocals/dialogue is clearer and less muffled on the Capsule.
- Netflix works on the Capsule! (Although, I believe they also had issues in the early years of releasing the device similar to what Xgimi is going through now. So maybe there’s hope for Xgimi.)

Picture Quality: Xgimi Mogo Pro
Okay, hands down Mogo Pro has the better picture and video quality. That’s what you’re paying for, and I think that was pretty obvious going in. The colors are more accurate, and the 1080p really shines through. The brightness is not really that different, but if you are throwing from a distance and at night, that’s when things might start looki...
