Firstly, knowing the projector was 480p in advance removed over inflated expectations and I am completely happy with the picture for "what it is".
However, apps take longer than old android boxes from a good few years ago load, streaming apps seem to buffer dramatically more than on android boxes and tvs on the same WiFi (Netflix doesn't support lean back functionality) and play services can be activated but are a separate finicky nightmare. These issues can be fixed plugging in an android box... But this defeats the purpose as a wireless outdoor friendly projector, due to this I cannot recommend this product
If you want to use anything other than Netflix or Amazon Prime, forget it. It does not support Apple TV, Hulu, HBO Max… and probably no other.
Impossible to use this during the day or even have a light on at night. It needs to be dark.
I contacted support and they never replied.
I bought this projector for my daughter's birthday. It's really cool (I'm kinda jealous of it and have my eye on the next version up). It has good picture quality, decent sound, good battery life and access to all the video streaming apps we use. It takes a little bit of time to do the initial setup, but it wasn't hard. My daughter figured it out just fine.
We did have an issue with the battery where it would no longer charge but the unit would work just fine plugged in. I emailed customer support, provided my purchase information, mailed the unit in and received a replacement unit less than a week later. They followed up to make sure I was satisfied with the replacement unit and resolution of the problem. It was all super easy and very much appreciated.
I have purchased a lot of sub $100 projectors and many more at much more than that - looking for the just right mix of features for particular needs. This is one I purchased to use while traveling.
I have other projectors for outside use (really bright), and in a dedicated theater (true 4K). And for loaning out to friends/family (various capabilities)
This one is just right for me for travel - more expensive than other projectors I've purchased for travel, but you get what you pay for.
It plays files from USB sticks flawlessly - you'd be surprised at how many projectors don't do that well.
Form factor is great - and draws a lot of interest from those who see it
App selection is good, with some quirkiness in their use, but not a 'problem'
Audio is better than expected
Interface is intuitive and easy to use - no need for instructions
Picture quality is good for what I use it for - it is only 480P, but I knew that going in - my first theater project (7 iterations ago) was also 480P, DLP
Brightness - bright enough to use with some ambient light - though I usually watch in darkened rooms.
I've been through enough projectors to know what I like and do not like. I feel like any cons I have with this are ignoring the niche role I expect it to fulfill.
I'll update this review if I find any over time.
Works good for movie night outside during summer
